Golf TV commentator Peter Jacobsen will be this year’s Frys.com Open honoree. Organizers of the golf tournament made the announcement Monday at the sponsorship appreciation day. Jacobsen is a former player who has won seven PGA events and two Champions Tour events. He now is a commentator for NBC and the Golf Channel.

A Citabria aircraft based out of Reid-Hillview Airport in San Jose was damaged during landing at San Martin Airport at around 10 a.m. today, according to Director Carl Honaker of Santa Clara County Airports.

The builders of the proposed mosque in rural San Martin have appealed the approval of their own use permit, asking the Santa Clara County planning commission to allow overnight accomodations, to host events with nearly twice as many people than previously requested and to double the size of the proposed multi-purpose building.

SAN JOSE - The Santa Clara County Planning Commission approved plans to build the Cordoba Center in San Martin – a mosque, cemetery and meeting place for the South Valley Islamic Community – at its meeting late Thursday afternoon, according to Hamdy Abbass, spokesman for SVIC who attended the meeting in San Jose.

Nearly 200 South Santa Clara County residents attended a planning advisory meeting Tuesday night to voice an impassioned mix of concerns, opposition, support and questions regarding the proposed Cordoba Center mosque project which will be considered by the county’s planning commission Thursday.
