A locally run media group has launched a new website where car dealers and consumers can post videos of used vehicles for sale online. It’s a one-stop shop for used cars from San Jose to Salinas and from Gilroy to Monterey – and it’s open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

AutoVlogs.com, set to launch today, features cars from dealerships in Salinas, Watsonville, Hollister, Gilroy and Santa Clara, with room to expand. Private car dealers can also film 60-second clips of their vehicles and send them to AutoVlogs, where they will be posted for thousands of eyes to see.

“It’s meant to be a virtual shopping mall for used cars.” said Steve Staloch, senior vice president and chief operating officer of MainStreet Media Group, which created the website. “Many dealers have their inventory online, but there is no one place a consumer can go in this region and view a large selections of used cars.”

AutoVlogs simplifies the process of consumers having to look through separate newspapers, advertisements or car lots to browse for used vehicles, Staloch said.

“This allows you to begin the shopping and the buying process virtually through video productions about the individual car.” he said “It’s the way to kick the tires before you literally kick the tires.”

And while other websites offer photos and basic information about its listed vehicles, the one-minute video clips and detailed vehicle descriptions allow AutoVlogs to stand apart, Staloch said.

“It’s the closest thing to getting behind the wheel,” he said.

Every car featured online also will be showcased to 185,000 readers of five local MainStreet Media Group publications and more than 70,000 unique visitors to those publications’ websites.

Private owners post an AutoVlog for their used vehicle for only $49 per month. AutoVlogs also offers in-person training, personal service and a free video camera to dealerships that agree to a three-month contract. For $349 per month, dealerships can receive nine to 20 videos and a print advertisement. Dealerships can spend as little as $17.45 per car advertising with AutoVlogs.
