Incumbent Morgan Hill Unified School District Trustee Mary Patterson is trailing in the early Nov. 5 election results for her seat representing Trustee Area 6 on the board of education.

As of 10pm, challenger Rebecca Munson leads the two-person race for TA6, with about 57% or 1,057 of the votes counted so far, according to the registrar’s website. Patterson has received 798 votes.

Also on the Nov. 5 ballot for the MHUSD board are seats for Trustee Areas 5 and 7, neither of which has an incumbent in the race. In TA5, Jennifer Marquez leads Tyler Smith with about 55% or 1,086 of the counted ballots.

In TA7, Veronica Andrade leads the vote count with 65% or 865 votes, the registrar’s site says. TA7 candidate Tom Pocus has received 463 votes so far.

Votes counted so far reflect vote-by-mail ballots and drop off ballots received by election officials before election day, according to the registrar’s office. Local election officials say a “tremendous surge” in voters casting their ballots on Nov. 5—both in person and by mail, according to Acting Registrar of Voters Matt Moreles.
