Yosup Shim, a U.S Army veteran and former executive for large corporations including Amazon and J.P. Morgan, is the new Team President of the Bay Area Panthers.
“This pivotal appointment underscores the Panthers’ commitment to excellence both on and off the field as they look to repeat their 2023 championship and firmly establish themselves as the preeminent team in the Indoor Football League,” says a press release from the Morgan Hill-based team.
Shim’s tenure at Amazon saw him pioneering strategies in multiple divisions including Amazon Web Services Asia-Pacific, Amazon Air Europe, Amazon Logistics North America and Amazon Prime Now, says the release. “Yosup’s ability to consistently exceed financial expectations while delivering results solidifies him as the ideal choice to lead the Panthers.”
Shim’s leadership skills have also been evident during his service in the U.S. Army, in which he served five years as an officer, says the press release. Shim is also a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point and Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business.
“Yosup’s appointment as Team President is a testament to where we see the future of the Panthers,” said Panthers owner Roy Choi. “His expertise and focus on team culture, financial growth, and product excellence will lead the Panthers to new heights.”
The Panthers moved their corporate and practice headquarters to Morgan Hill just before the beginning of the 2023 season. In August, the team won their first IFL national championship.
