Morgan Hill resident Hal Hendrickson will be honored by the Boy Scouts of America for 50-plus years of volunteerism with the Boy Scouts Council Alumnus of the Year Award, the highest local recognition bestowed by the National Scouting Alumni & Friends association.
He will receive the award at the annual recognition dinner hosted by the Silicon Valley Monterey Bay Council at Villa Ragusa in Campbell on Friday, Feb. 7.
Hendrickson is an active citizen of Morgan Hill and was selected as the local Chamber of Commerce’s Man of the Year in 1998, reads a press release from Boy Scouts of America. Hendrickson started the Independence Day Celebration in Morgan Hill and is still active in the annual Fourth of July parade and singing program, which he helped establish.
Hendrickson served on the Morgan Hill Unified School District board of education for a decade, and on the board of directors for the YMCA. Today, Hendrickson continues to contribute in his community and church in many leadership roles.
As a proud Eagle Scout, Hendrickson has been active in scouting for more than five decades. He recently retired from his profession after 20 years of service with Nordson/DAGE, where he was the global sales director for semiconductor test equipment worldwide. Hendrickson has served in several vice presidential roles on the board of directors for the Silicon Valley Monterey Bay Council, Boy Scouts of America since 2006. He is currently serving as vice president of marketing, leading efforts to raise awareness of scouting through local media.
The Feb. 7 recognition dinner will also highlight the 439 youth who earned the Eagle Scout rank in 2019 and eight adult volunteers with the Silver Beaver Award. The event will also recognize some heroic acts of lifesaving. Veteran radio broadcaster, Lissa Kreisler, the “Voice of Silicon Valley,” will emcee the dinner. For more information, visit svmbc.org.
