Domestic disturbance

Police arrested a man who had multiple warrants after responding to a report of a domestic dispute. The incident was reported at a residence on Depot Street, where a caller told police that a couple could be heard arguing. Police arrived and arrested the man allegedly involved in the domestic dispute. The male suspect had multiple warrants for his arrest, according to police reports. The incident was reported 7:50pm July 16.

Municipal code violation

Two homeless people were arrested on outstanding warrants after police investigated a report of an illegal encampment behind Dollar Tree, 16975 Monterey Road. The encampment was reported 4:27pm July 15.

About 20 people were reported drinking and urinating under a building near the tennis courts at Morgan Hill Community Park, 225 W. Edmundson Ave. The subjects emptied their beverages and left the area when officers arrived. The incident was reported 8:14pm July 12.

Petty theft

Someone stole a package from the front porch of a residence on Saint Agatha Lane. Inside the package was a $250 pair of running shoes. The crime was reported 5:53pm July 15.

A man was arrested after he stole cigarettes from a store on West Main Avenue. The suspect, who had a previous warning for trespassing at the store, was cited by police and released. The incident was reported 10:40pm July 12.

A woman was cited and released after she was arrested for shoplifting at Hobby Lobby, 990 Cochrane Road. The suspect also had multiple warrants for her arrest. The crime was reported 7:55pm July 13.

Auto burglary

A thief or thieves broke into several vehicles parked in the parking lot outside Red Robin, 1045 Cochrane Road, and stole several items from inside the cars. The auto burglaries were reported about 9pm July 15.

Someone pried out the deadbolt on a work trailer and entered the vehicle, which was parked on Vintage Lane. The crime was reported 6:11am July 12.

A thief or thieves broke into a Tesla parked outside Chili’s, 1039 Cochrane Road. The crime was reported 8:29pm July 10.

Theft

A thief or thieves stole items from Specialized Bicycle Components on Concord Circle several times in recent weeks. The suspect or suspects have made entry by cutting their way into fences outside the building. The thefts were reported 9:35am July 16.

Vandalism

Someone vandalized the bathroom area of the Golden Eagle gas station, 16995 Monterey Road, about 3:26pm July 12.  

Fight

A victim suffered a severe head injury after a man assaulted him on Monterey Road in downtown Morgan Hill. The suspect left the area in a four-door Ford pickup truck. The incident happened in the area of the 17300 block of Monterey Road. When paramedics arrived, they found the victim unresponsive on the ground. He was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The incident was reported 12:51am July 13.

Stolen vehicle

Someone stole a gray Chevrolet Silverado pickup from a spot on DeWitt Avenue. The theft was reported 5:28am July 13.

Fraud

A victim told police she was scammed out of $500 by a telephone caller posing as a sergeant from the sheriff’s office. The victim said the scammer falsely told her she would be arrested on a warrant if she did not pay $1,000. The victim realized it was a scam after she paid the suspect $500. The crime was reported 10:59am July 13.

Someone stole a victim’s wallet during a party on Via Corfinio. The victim’s credit cards were subsequently used at a number of locations, and to make a withdrawal of $2,000 cash. The crime was reported 8:44am July 12.

Disturbance

A resident of Sierra Court was reported for using a chainsaw in his yard at about 6am July 14.

About six or seven male and female juveniles were reportedly drinking alcohol at a park on San Benito Place. The juveniles were allegedly associated with a nearby white BMW sedan. The disturbance was reported 8:39pm July 14.

Robbery

A male suspect threatened an employee at 7-Eleven, 295 W. Main Ave., as he stole a pastry from the store, then started multiple fires in the roadside vegetation as he fled the area on foot. The suspect ran north on Crest Avenue. Police said witnesses then reported the man lighting fires on the side of roadways north of town. The robbery was initially reported 9:21pm July 14. Police arrested the suspect off Hale Avenue about 10pm July 14.

Burglary

Someone burglarized a construction site at Condit Road and San Pedro Avenue. The crime was reported 8:56am July 12.

Animal control

An 11-year-old cocker spaniel was out for a walk with its owner when the dog was attacked by two pit bulls that got loose from a nearby yard. The cocker spaniel was injured, and the woman walking the dog told police the pit bulls knocked her down. The incident was reported 6:40pm July 10 on Hale Avenue.
