A trio of Morgan Hill teenagers were among more than 130 graduating seniors from California Connections Academy Ripon, a tuition-free online public school serving kindergartners through 12th-graders.

Derrick Benadom, Devyn Benadom and Jimmy Peponis all took part in the June 18 commencement ceremony held at the Warren Atherton Auditorium at San Joaquin Delta Community College in Stockton.

Hundreds of family members, friends, teachers and administrators gathered to honor the students’ accomplishments, with remarks from Ripon Unified School District Superintendent Ziggy Robeson and Valedictorian Lily Eiselt.

The online school serves a wide array of students throughout Alameda, Amador, Calaveras, Contra Costa, Sacramento, San Joaquin and Stanislaus counties, providing an innovative and flexible learning environment for more than 1,400 students. The school opened in 2012 and is authorized under state law by the Ripon Unified School District.
