Sobrato student earns $5k scholarship from SJ Quakes

SCHOLAR SUPPORT Ann Sobrato High School senior Mallory Wayman received a special birthday surprise March 12 when her family and representatives from the San Jose Earthquakes showed up in her AVID class with a scholarship check for $5,000. Nominated by her counselor and soccer coach Ted Thomas, Wayman was selected from a pool of 18 area students. Each Bay Area sports team chooses a college-bound recipient in partnership with the Bay Area All Star Scholarship Team Program.
