Everything is ready for the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Bay Section Leadership Conference being hosted today by the Live Oak High School Chapter.

Approximately 400 members from as far north as Petaluma will be taking part in the first level of competitions to qualify for State. There are 25 different business or business-related subject areas in which the students may compete – anything from accounting to public speaking and job interviews.

Other learning activities include workshops on “Get a Jump-start on College Applications”, “Choose an Option – Rent, Buy Your Housing for College”, and “The Key to Getting Hired: Resume + Interview.” In addition, the Bay Section officers for the 2005-2006 school year will be elected after the candidate’s campaigns.

Of course, there will be fun lunchtime activities such as line dancing, origami, and movies produced by our own Billy Wong. There will also be entertainment provided by our talented chapter members Minna Chan, songs on Chinese Zither (musical instrument); Vincent Hatakeyama and Roger Alcaraz, Judo demonstrations; Simmi Dhillon, Indian cultural dance; Jennifer Hong, Kathleen Vasquez, Christine Nguyen, a Vietnamese and a Japanese dance; and Kathy and Dorothy Mou, Chinese ribbon dance.

The day will come to an end at the exciting Awards of Excellence session where the winners will be announced and the plaques will be given out for each event.
