After the racers enjoyed a hardy pancake breakfast at PA Walsh school, they covered the downtown parade route.
People who gathered early in anticipation of the parade watched as racers ran and walked the 3.1 mile course.
The top finishers received trophies and got to participate in the parade, and the runners up received medals. Prizes were also given to the most patriotically dressed. Angie Young of Morgan Hill took home that honor after racing with her flag costume.
Carol Kemnitz, who was the first person to register for the race two months ago, came from Hayward with her patriotic outfit commemorating her son who is serving in Iraq. Her outfit won her second place.
Jason Paderson was the race winner and also the fastest teen. Barry Phelps was the second fastest male, and Live Oak runner Billy Wong was the second fastest teen male.
Morgan Celaya of Morgan Hill was the top teen female, and Mandy Williams finished second.
Kari Anne Berkland and Maria Trujil finished first and second as the top females in the race.
Craig Lore and David Riddle claimed the honors as the fastest males over 50.
Susan Schaglian and Sandy Stanley came in first and second in the female masters 50 + category.
