It’s that time of year again, when schools in Morgan Hill celebrate the achievements of their graduates. Many private schools will honor graduates with special ceremonies.
Oakwood Country School will hold its eighth-grade graduation ceremony on Wednesday at 5pm in the school’s gym. Many of the 23 graduates will go on to form the first freshman class for Oakwood’s new high school. Following the ceremony, there will be a reception for graduates and their families and a dance for students.
There are three schools holding graduation ceremonies on Thursday, all of them Morgan Hill School District Schools. The district’s two middle schools, Britton and Martin Murphy, will honor their departing eight graders with ceremonies at 4pm; the Britton ceremony will be held on the west field, and Martin Murphy’s will be on the athletic field. The students will become the second class of freshmen in 25 years to attend a district high school instead of remaining at the middle school. Dances at the middle schools will be held later the same evening.
The district’s Central Continuation High graduates will celebrate their accomplishments Thursday at 6:30pm at the Community and Cultural Center at the corner of Monterey Road and Dunne Avenue. Families of the graduates are planning a celebration following the ceremony, and the graduates are invited to attend Grad Night, the annual “safe and sober” post-graduation party held in Live Oak’s gym, on Friday.
Prior to Grad Night, Live Oak’s graduates will cross the stage at Richert Field at 6pm.
Crossroads Christian School will hold a pre-school promotion ceremony on June 13 and kindergarten graduation on June 14. Both ceremonies will be at the school.
Also on June 14, MHSD’s adult school graduates will be honored during a 7pm ceremony at El Toro Elementary.
Several schools will hold graduation ceremonies on June 16. Crossroads will honor eight graduates at 6pm followed by a banquet at Mama Mia’s restaurant. Carden Academy will have an eighth grade graduation ceremony on June 16 and a kindergarten ceremony on June 17.
Two schools have already held ceremonies. Shadow Mountain Baptist Church school held a 12th grade graduation ceremony for two students on May 29, and St. Catherine Catholic School honored its 32 eighth grade graduates on June 3 with a Baccalaureate Mass and awards ceremony in the morning and the graduation ceremony in the evening.
Gavilan College held its graduation May 27.
