Volunteers are still needed to help clean up creeks in Morgan Hill as part of the 27th annual Coastal Cleanup Day Saturday.
Local sites that are short of registered volunteers are along West Little Llagas Creek from Ciolino Drive to Edes Court (site 37), and from Edmundson Avenue to Watsonville Road (site 38).
Cleanup takes place from 9 a.m to noon, and interested volunteers can register on the Coastal Cleanup Day website, at www.cleanacreek.org/upcomingcleanupevents_CCD12.asp.
The annual Coastal Cleanup Day is hosted by the Santa Clara Valley Water District. Each year, volunteers fan out to creek sites throughout the county to clean up trash along the waterways, according to SCVWD spokeswoman Jessica Collins.
Last year in Santa Clara County, 1,639 volunteers covered almost 78 miles of waterways and collected about 32,400 pounds of trash, and 7,773 pounds of recyclable materials, Collins said.
Volunteers are encouraged to wear long pants, sturdy shoes, gloves and sunscreen. Volunteers should also bring their own pick-up sticks and gloves. First-aid supplies, trash bags, water and refreshments will be provided.
For a map of cleanup sites and to print waiver of liability forms go to www.cleanacreek.org.
Individuals, clubs and classes are welcome to volunteer, as well as anyone looking to fulfill community service requirements, Collins said. Those younger than 18 must have a parent or guardian signature on the waiver of liability form.
