Bench dedication

The Leadership Morgan Hill class of 2012 unveiled a new “Reflection Bench” rest stop on Morgan Hill’s Llagas Creek bike and walking path Thursday, Aug. 30.

The Leadership class designed and built the rest stop as its community service project, according to Leadership Morgan Hill class member Brenda Glimpse. The rest stop is located just east of the Centennial Recreation Center at 171 West Edmundson Ave.

The Leadership class of 2012 was joined by local business leaders and members of the Morgan Hill Chamber of Commerce in the ribbon cutting ceremony. Classmates raised money for the project through their own individual contributions and some fundraising efforts, according to classmate and City Council member Marilyn Librers.

The class members did all the work on the project themselves. Leadership Morgan Hill is a nonprofit organization that trains and educates prospective community leaders for the future benefit of Morgan Hill.

“From our class already, two members have been appointed to city commissions,” Librers said. “We definitely encourage leadership to continue on into the community.”

In order to provide prospective students an opportunity to learn about the Leadership Morgan Hill experience, the organization is holding a special Leadership Morgan Hill Information Night on Oct. 11 at the Community and Cultural Center from 6 to 7:30 p.m. For more information, go to www.leadershipmorganhill.org
