Dear Editor,
Before falsely accusing Democratic candidate Jerry McNerney of “flip-flopping” on the Project Vote Smart survey, Benjamin Rose, of Tracy, should have read the disclaimer that the non-partisan organization put on its Web site: “Project Vote Smart does not permit the use of its name or programs in any negative campaign activity, including advertising, debates, and speeches.”
Republican Congressman Richard Pombo also failed to heed the group’s disclaimer. In a campaign flyer mailed to voters last month, he distorted information from Project Vote Smart to falsely claim McNerney has a “plan” to raise gasoline taxes. McNerney has no such “plan” and Pombo knows it.
His campaign lie shows how low Pombo and his gang will go.
People are tired of Pombo’s dirty politics. In November, South Valley citizens will “vote smart,” and send Jerry McNerney to Congress, kicking the desperado Pombo back to his Tracy ranch.
