Dear Editor,

How ironic. The July 29 Morgan Hil Times front page story on the Morgan Hill downtown growth measure to be put on the November ballot, approved by the city council, will ask voters to approve an additional 100 units besides the 250 annual allotments currently allowed.

Then on page 3 the bold print headline says, “Local Demand for H20 Nearly Taps Supply.”

Jim Ashcroft, public works director, says city’s maximum capacity for one day is 14 million gallons. Morgan Hill pumped 13.48 million gallons to customers on Sunday, July 23, when the temperature reached 112 degrees.

Why in the world is the city council urging residents to continue growth of our bedroom community by voting this to be on the November ballot?

Doesn’t this clearly signal a water supply problem in the not too distant future?

With the threat of global warming, how many more wells can be drilled to satisfy the city’s need for water and how much underground water is really down there?

Hello, will someone please wake up before it’s too late!

A 30-year resident of Morgan Hill.

Crystal Lee, Morgan Hill
