In true All-Star fashion, the Morgan Hill Pinto B team rebounded from a disappointing early round loss and fought its way back through the loser’s bracket to reach the sectional championship game Monday night in San Jose.
The title contest tilted toward the Blossom Valley All-Stars, 9-7, but the Morgan Hill squad’s season didn’t end with the loss. The second-place finish advances Morgan Hill to the Regional tournament, which will be hosted by the city this weekend at Britton Middle School.
On Monday, pitchers Justin Lovecchio, Noah Guary and Caleb Elam shared the mound duties and were backed by sharp defense from Tucker Plant and Aiden Keenan. Spencer Gieg, Brandon Swing, and Noah Guary each had strong performances at the plate, keeping the game close throughout.
Britton Middle School will also be the site of the Mustang and Bronco 11 sectional tournament this weekend.
