Rain is forecast over the next few days in Morgan Hill, according to the National Weather Service.

Heavy rains with strong winds are expected to hit the South County area overnight Friday and continue through the rest of the weekend into Monday early afternoon, according to Brian Mejia, meteorologist with the National Weather Service.
“As of right now we have some pretty high rain totals across our forecast area,” Mejia said. “For the Santa Clara County area, we could get anywhere from 3 to 5 inches of rain.”
Sustained winds ranging from 15-20 MPH are expected to accompany the wet weather, along with mid-day highs ranging from low to mid 50s and overnight lows hovering around freezing temperatures.
“We are forecasting some pretty strong winds as well with this system, really beginning on Saturday late morning-early afternoon,” Mejia said.
The NWS issued a freeze warning for the Santa Clara Valley tonight and early tomorrow morning (3 to 9 a.m.) as temperatures are expected to dip below freezing in some areas.
This rain season has already brought in 22.44 inches of rain to date, including .94 in the last 24 hours, according to Santa Clara Valley Water District measurements taken from Uvas Reservoir.
Those same gauges (as of 10:05 a.m. Jan. 5) show Uvas Reservoir as 101.2 percent its capacity with 9,950.2 acre feet. Uvas capacity is 9,835 acre feet. An acre foot covers an acre of land 1 foot deep.
