Morgan Hill Unified School District’s board of education unanimously approved its budget, as well as its Local Control Accountability Plan, for the 2017-18 school year at the June 20 meeting.
The operating budget climbs to $89,022,922 of a total budget, including all funds, at $114,799,040, according to Assistant Superintendent of Business Services Kirsten Perez.
The 2017-18 budget came with $4.4 million in deficit spending as expenditures outweighed revenues. However, district staff noted that they have maintained a reserve at 13.54 percent.
The LCAP, which can be viewed in its entirety on the district website mhusd.org, is the district’s game plan for reaching and improving student achievement goals throughout the year. It shows where the funds go and what they are meant for. The LCAP, a working document and component of the district’s Local Control Funding Formula, is a three-year plan that is revisited and updated annually.
