George Flores passed away on June 20, 2017 after a long battle with lymphatic cancer.
There will be a Celebration of Life/Memorial Service in his honor on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 4:00pm at Sobrato High School in Morgan Hill, CA.
George was born in the Bronx, N.Y. and then moved to Ayer, Mass. where he attended junior and senior high. He earned his B.S. and masters at the University of Massachusetts.
He was the beloved husband and best friend of Deborah Flores for 44 years. They met at Ayer High School and began dating their first year at UMass. He was a loving and devoted father of Julian Flores and Christina Courtney. He is also survived by three siblings – Mimi Ramirez, Eve Johnson, and Luis Flores. He was a great friend to many but in particular to his “sister” (in law) Kathy Neese, his “brothers” – Paul Schnaittacher, Doug Logan and George Trucz. He adored his nieces and nephews – Randy, Vernadette, Tish, Lee, Julius and Windy.
He was a highly respected and beloved science teacher of over 30 years – the last ten years at Britton Middle School in the Morgan Hill Unified School District. He was devoted to his students and had a tremendous impact on their lives. He went above and beyond and organized several major events – science fair, Project Roadmap conference and the Volcano Kids trips to Hawaii and Costa Rica.
