The Silicon Valley Leadership Group Foundation will contribute salad bars to all 14 MHUSD schools, thanks to the Lam Research “Heart & Soles 5K” run/walk that helps fund the foundation’s “Salad Bars for Schools” initiative.
“Morgan Hill is a community that values youth and loves recreation,” said Mayor Steve Tate. “Equipping our youth with healthy, nutritional eating opportunities bolsters their abilities to stay healthy, play their favorite sports and learn in the classroom.”
Salad bars in schools encourage healthy eating habits, help reduce obesity and promote overall health that makes kids better learners. The Heart & Soles 5K has funded salad bars in 122 local schools, serving more than 97,000 students, according to the SVLGF announcement. The goal for 2016 is to donate salad bars to 70 more schools and help another 50,000 students gain access to better nutrition.
The Heart & Soles 5K is took place March 12, at Lake Cunningham Park in south San Jose.
