Jean Lavagnino went unexpectedly to join her beloved husband of 60 years, Bill Lavagnino and her daughter, Sandi Crowe on Sunday evening, June 19th, 2016, surrounded by her family.
Doris was born, Doris Beuttler in San Benito, to Gladys and Simon Beuttler on February 13, 1925. She was the great-granddaughter of Simon Breen of the famed Donner Party.
Doris moved to San Juan during her childhood and lived the remainder of her life at the family home on Franklin Street.
The first job she had and one that she was very proud of, was that of being a telephone operator which she started while she was in high school. She was so proficient in her position that she was “lent” to other offices. Some as far away as Paso Robles. Which is not surprising because she was always happy and was a very hard worker.
Doris was very active in the Lavagnino Brothers farming enterprises. She even worked on the tomato harvesters, doing whatever was necessary. She was known as the “Candy Apple Lady” making 100’s to give out on Halloween. Also known for her garlic braids and beautiful gardens.
She was very active in her children’s activities and was a Den Mother for her son’s Cub Scout Troop. Doris was a long time member of the Native Daughters of the Golden West.
Her first and primary concern was her family and was extremely loyal, no matter what.
Doris is survived by her son, William, her daughters, Teresa (Stan) and Carol. Sandi’s children, Andrew (Shannon) and Ferris Daniel (Aerica). Her great-grandchildren, Sarah, Joseph, Carter and Camden. In addition to numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
Doris loved life and lived every single minute of it. She was well loved and will be missed by all.
