Four Morgan Hill gymnasts win gold at State Championships
Morgan Hill – The Morgan Hill boys gymnastic team continue to surprise competitors with their excellent performances during big meets.

At the Northern California Boys Gymnastic Association (NCBGA) State Championships in Petaluma on March 18 and 19, the Morgan Hill gymnasts were up against the top male gymnast from all over California. The finals determine the best individual gymnasts in the floor, pommel horse, high bar, parallel bars, vault and ring events.

The state finals are also the only chance for gymnasts to qualify for the Western Regionals in San Mateo on April 9.

Wesley Guild, Caleb Wiesenberger, Domenic Zanotto and Zach Fedalizo each qualified for the Western Regionals by earning gold medals during the Sate Championships.

Guild, 9, captured an all-around gold medal for the boys level 5 and also earned individual golds for the rings and high bar events. Wiesenberger, 8, won gold in the level 5 pommel horse event and placed third in the all-around. Zanotto, 9, captured gold in the boys level 5 floor exercise event and placed fourth in the all-around. Fedalizo earned an all-around gold medal for the boys level 7 and won gold medals in the rings and high bar events.

“The boys did a wonderful job,” said parent Mike Zanotto. “It’s hard to put into context what these boys are doing, but a few years ago Morgan Hill didn’t even have a boys gymnastic team and now they are competing with the best of the best in California.”

Guild, Wiesenberger, Zanotto and Fedalizo test their mettle against the best gymnasts from Hawaii, Arizona, Nevada and California at the regionals in April.
