With glasses raised in a toast, 250 local seniors were thanked by Rotary Club of Morgan Hill for their lifetimes of “paying taxes and contributing to their community.”

The salute was delivered at Rotary Club of Morgan Hill’s 27th Annual Harvey Barrett Senior Dinner March 21.

The free event for local seniors was launched with old-fashioned wagon rides pulled by a team of Percheron draft horses owned by Dr. Eric Cohen.

A three-course dinner was cooked by Rotarians under the watchful eyes of Rosy’s at the Beach owners Rosy and Rich Bergin. Honorary Rotarian Gene Guglielmo pitched in eight cases of his family’s wines.

The entertainment line-up featured the Fabulous Flappers Dance Company and a Barbershop Quartet performed by Rotary members Gary Sargenti, Peter Anderson, Ken Hulick and Bob Brentnall.

Many seniors, now in their 80s and 90s, have been attending some or all of the annual Senior Dinners since their inception in 1982.
