Dear Editor,

How exactly does a politician earn the distinction of being one of the 13 most corrupt members of Congress? For Congressman Richard Pombo, it seems to come naturally. The recent revelation that he has had connections to criminal lobbyist Jack Abramoff is only further proof that this man is corrupt and does not deserve to represent our district and our country. Recent records show that Pombo met with Abramoff several times from 1996 until 2001 and received campaign contributions to ensure the failure of a bill that would give the Mariana Islands a voice in the government of this country. Of course Pombo has denied these connections, but the past has shown that he seems to have very unique ideas about what is true and false. How can this district continue to support such a corrupt and dishonest man who has absolutely no qualms about participating in illegal actions and restricting the rights of the citizens he is supposed to represent?
