Former Chamber President/CEO Chris Giusiana

Morgan Hill Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Chris Giusiana resigned last week after five years serving in that position, according to Chamber Board of Directors Chair Rich Firato.

Giusiana resigned to “pursue other opportunities,” Firato said in a statement, though he declined to offer further details about her reason for resigning.

“We appreciate all the hard work she has put into the Chamber the past five years, helping the organization navigate through a tough economic climate,” Firato said. “We wish her the best in the future.”

The 14-member Chamber board has no immediate plans to replace Giusiana, Firato said. The board’s Vice Chair John Horner will step in for the next three months to take care of the Chamber’s day-to-day operations while the Board considers their next step.

“As an organization, we will evaluate the structure of the Chamber to determine how best to move forward in the long term,” Firato said.

He added the board was surprised by Giusiana’s resignation.

Firato also noted that as of Tuesday afternoon, Chamber board members had heard already heard from six local residents who are interested in taking Giusiana’s place. But he declined to identify the candidates by name because the board is not yet ready to start taking applications.

“We’re not doing anything (to fill the position) for three months until we figure out where we’re at, where we’re going and what we really need in that position,” Firato said.
