Hanna Doting

Hanna Doting, a 17-year-old senior at Live Oak High School, is this week’s “Student of the Week.”
What inspires you?
The actions of others inspire me. If I see someone doing an act of kindness or placing a positive influence on the world, it inspires me to do the same. One smile can change someone’s whole day.
Favorite subject in school:
Anatomy is my favorite subject because I love to learn how the body works, and I love fitness!
If you could change one thing in the world:
If I could change one thing in the world, I would change the stereotypes that have been placed upon ethnicities throughout history. I was given the chance to see the effects of these stereotypes on the people around me at Camp Everytown, a leadership camp that has changed my perspective on life.
If you could go anywhere:
If I could go anywhere in the world, I would go to Denmark to see my mother’s family, whom I have never had the pleasure to meet!
Name one big challenge in your life right now:
One big challenge in my life right now is living at home without my sisters. It is hard to go through the trials of high school without the moral, loving support of my two best friends.
Dream job:
My dream job would have to be becoming an athletic trainer for a professional sports team, specifically the San Francisco Giants, and experience hands-on experience on and off the field. I love being an athlete, so I would love to be able to help other athletes!
Your three favorite things:
My favorite things are family, friends, and sports!
Favorite book:
My favorite books would have to be the “Twilight” series – Team Jacob!
Plans post-high school:
After high school, I hope to attend the University of the Pacific, and play Division 1 field hockey alongside my sister. I would love to study sports science and sports medicine.
Something that makes you smile:
When other people smile, I smile!
Top three songs on your iPod or iTunes:
“M83” by Midnight City, “On My Highway” by Jason Aldean and “Lose Yourself by Eminem.
