The Spirit of Morgan Hill youth softball organization is hosting a fundraiser 3-7 p.m. Saturday at Morgan Hill Bowl.
Spirit of Morgan Hill is trying to raise money to replace equipment stolen in October when unknown subjects reportedly drove away with an estimated $5,000 worth of equipment in a golf cart.
President of Spirit Marilyn Burke said the bowling alley will donate $1,000 on top of 50 percent of the proceeds raised during the bowling night.
Those wishing to take part in the fundraiser can print a flyer from www.spiritofmorganhill.com and present it at the bowling alley.
Burke said there isn’t an exact number the softball organization is trying to raise, but said she hopes to at least replace the golf cart that was stolen.
The reported theft occurred at the softball organization’s headquarters at San Martin Quinn. A janitor saw the golf cart driving away along with the equipment used by the softball team.
The suspects also are accused of breaking into a cash machine and stealing $20 worth of coins.
Spirit of Morgan Hill is in its offseason as the final team completed its last tournament recently. Softball will resume in the spring.
Burke said the organization will see how Saturday goes then decide whether to hold future fundraisers. She said other Morgan Hill businesses have expressed an interest in helping the team with fundraising activities.
