Stay tuned to your local open space authority to stay up-to-date on the latest schedule for the annual Coyote Ridge wildflower hikes.
The Santa Clara County Open Space Authority is currently taking reservations for the hikes, which will take place seven days a week during wildflower season, according to a press release from OSA.
“The hikes could start as early as mid-March,” said Andrea Mackenzie,
General Manager of the OSA. “We want the community to have the opportunity to see the wildflowers in all their glory.”
The OSA will host the docent-led hikes along the Santa Clara Valley’s eastern foothills between Morgan Hill and San Jose. The OSA owns the property on Coyote Ridge, but public access to the open space preserve is limited.
The Coyote Ridge property is “home to a spectacular array of wildflowers,” the press release said.
The height of wildflower season is typically between March and the beginning of May, according to the OSA.
The hikes will start at 9 a.m. each day, and take about four hours to complete with interpretive stops along the way, according to OSA staff. Docents will provide information about the plants and animals that are native to the area.
OSA is currently taking reservations for the hikes, though the exact dates have not been determined.
