Joshua Toch

Live Oak senior Joshua Toch, 17, is this week’s “Student of the Week.”
What inspires you?
The person that inspires me most is my Grandpa, because he was liked and respected by everyone he met when he was still alive.
What is your favorite subject in school, and why?
Physics is my favorite subject because it is applied math. I love how in this class I can solve a math problem on where an object should land and then go outside and test it.
If you had the power to change one thing in the world, what would it be?
If I had the power to change one thing in this world it would be to have everyone respect each other equally.
If you could go anywhere, where would you go?
I would go to space because I have always wondered what is out there.
Name one big challenge in your life right now:
Time management is the most challenging thing for me. It is defiantly harder than I ever would have thought juggling AP classes, college applications, sports, work, Associate Student Body Vice President and Co-President of Interact club (high school Rotary).
What is your dream job?
My dream job is to be an engineer building the latest medical equipment for hospitals.
If you were stuck on a deserted island, what three things could you not live without?
I could not live without food, water and running shoes.
Favorite book:
“Snow Falling on Cedars” by David Guterson.
What are your plans post high school?
I hope that I can go to either UC Berkeley or Stanford to get a major in engineering. After undergraduate school I hope to go back to school to get my MBA.
Something that makes you smile:
Something that makes me smile is when I can make someone else’s day for whatever reason.
Students are selected by their principals.
