After an emotional win the night before, Live Oak returned to the court Saturday, picking up a 43-33 win over Del Mar.
The Acorns rode a big third quarter to cruise to the win.
Live Oak put up 19 points in the third, to take a 39-22 lead.
Sophomore Amy Gunther led the team with 13 points. Fayth Lyon added 11 and Jocelyn Mendoza had six more in the win.
Live Oak will next travel to James Lick 7 p.m. Thursday to kick off a three-game in three-night stretch.
Oakwood continues to roll
The Oakwood boys basketball team continues its run through the early season, extending its winning streak to five after utterly decimating Latino College Prep Friday night.
The Hawks won 112-32. It was the most points they have put up as a team with records going back to 2006.
They are now scoring 75 points per game, putting up 75 or more points in four if their six games.
Latino College Prep, however, has not won a game since February, 2012, going 0-19 since that game.
Oakwood will look to continue that run when it plays Live Oak 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the Bob Hagen Tournament at Gilroy High School.
Live Oak girls soccer’s shutout streak up to 4 games
The Live Oak girls soccer team will look to extend its shutout streak when the Acorns host Scotts Valley 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Live Oak has yet to yield a goal in four games, after beating Gilroy 2-0 on Thursday.
Holly Hopwood and Alissa Pham each had goals against the Mustangs in the first half. Pham also added an assist as did Ally Salzwedel.
