Dear Editor,

The announcement of Britton Middle School Principal Russom Mesfun’s departure has saddened me. I have been a longtime resident of Morgan Hill.

I have also been educated through the Morgan Hill Unified School District. Being an active parent throughout the education of my children has been very important to me.

I have witnessed many comings and goings of our staff members. Many of which I was happy to send off. However, this is not the case involving Mr. Mesfun. I feel that we are losing a great principal who truly cares about the school and the future of our children.

I have sat in my vehicle while waiting for school to end, and what I saw was a caring man making his way to greet the parents of his students. Not only did he take the time to introduce himself to the parents he would also greet the children by their names. This may seem small for some, but for me it showed respect. He’s a dedicated man. He will be missed. We wish him good luck.
