Rotary Club of Morgan Hill awarded $15,000 in college scholarships to 14 local high school seniors at ceremonies May 18. The $2,000 Ralph and Rose Fitzsimmons Agricultural Scholarship for outstanding achievement and commitment to agricultural studies was awarded too Amy McBirney of Ann Sobrato High School.
The $1,000 William Stables Music Scholarship for outstanding achievement in music studies was awarded to John Kellett of Live Oak High School.
Live Oak High School recipients of $1,000 scholarships for outstanding academic achievement were Danika Basista, Matt Alpert, Lauren Drewniany and Olivia Priedit. Sobrato students receiving the $1,000 academic achievement scholarships were Maggie Luu, Estevan Santiago, Alicia Diaz, Kiley Foster, Nika Burnett, Winston van Keulen and Lindsay Luna.
Central High School student receiving the $1,000 academic achievement scholarship was Tyanna Chocalas.
Rotary’s Scholarship Committee is David de la Cuesta, chair; Tracy Newquist and Dr. Wesley Smith.
Rotary Club of Morgan Hill is a part of Rotary International, a worldwide organization of business and professional leaders that provides humanitarian service, encourages high ethical standards in all vocations, and helps build goodwill and peace in the world. One major emphasis of the local club’s focus is on the community’s youth.
