The Morgan Hill Farmers’ Market opened for its 26th annual season Saturday with a surprise for mothers. Virginia Sellers, Morgan Hill market manager for 26 years, passed out free flowers to mothers walking through the market opening day.

“The farmers’ market is full of families,” said Sellers. “I’ve seen parents bring their children to the market, and then those children grow up and bring their own children to the farmers’ market.”

The return of the market provides an opportunity for the community to come together with farmers and food producers. Neighbors stopped to chat, while kids snacked on fresh strawberries and cherries.

The market began a kids’ crafts booth last year, which has continued to be a hit with children and parents, organizer said.

The Morgan Hill Farmers’ Market is a location approved by the Santa Clara County Agricultural Commissioner where farmers offer for sale only those fruits and vegetables they grow themselves. The Morgan Hill Farmers’ Market operates from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday through Dec. 17, rain or shine. For more information call the market hotline at 800-806-3276, visit the website (www.CAFarmersMkts.com), or comment on the Facebook page (www.facebook.com/MHFarmersMkt).
