Mitey Mite DivisionÂ
The chilly 42 degrees felt more like 20 in the dark morning hours as the sleepy Morgan Hill Raiders arrived at Carlmont High School in Belmont at 6:30 Sunday morning to keep their undefeated season spotless against the Bayside Broncos.  Â
By the 8am kick-off the sun was up and the Raiders were warming up. After winning the toss and six plays later, the Raiders offense began to sizzle. With great blocks from William Long (#97)Â and Ryan Quadros (#93) on a quarterback keeper, Trevor Bearden (#24) took the ball up the left side with a 43-yard run into the end zone.
This week,  the Raider’s Defense again showed up to play and after allowing one Bronco touchdown in the first quarter the defense kept the Bronco’s scoring hopes at bay including an exciting Bronco’s fourth-down stand when the Raiders’ Anthony Fortuna (#12) stopped the play behind the line of scrimmage. The change of possession allowed the Raider’s to unleash their secret weapon Domenico Zanotto (#33), who, with  key blocks from Andrew Millard (#11) and Christian Nunez (#80), Zanotto juked several Bronco defender’s and burst free up the middle to score for the Raiders.
Late in the first half – the lone Raider in a mob of orange jersey –  kick-off team member Austin Vaiana (#54) recovered a Raiders’ on-side kick and set up a fantastic scoring run by  Raider’s Jacob Hoekstra (#6), who cuts right and then left to elude two Bronco defenders in his first opportunity at running back.
The Raiders had an impressive game considering that this was the first game this season with coaches off the field and the players directing the offense and calling the defense themselves. From the sideline you would never know that the Raiders were missing eight players for this game and the team had to fill in positions where they lacked experience as the Raider’s virtually shut down the Bronco’s in the second half of the game.
The final score Raiders 36, Broncos 12
JR PEEWEES
The Jr. PeeWee’s remained perfect at 4-0 with a lopsided rout of The Bayside Bronco’s 49-6. The Defense allowed just 24 yards, while the Offense out played the Broncos to the tune of 357 yards, scoring almost at will.
Deric Taylor had his best game of the year rushing for 65 yards on five carries and three touchdowns. Victor Del Rio ran for 38 yards on six touches. Quarterback Anthony Villarreal ran for 38 yards and threw for 55 going two for two. Danny Saporito took a reverse 60 yards for one of his two touchdowns.
The Defense had their best showing of the year to date allowing a measly 24 yards. The Bronco touchdown came on a kick-off return. Frankie Palmer led the team with seven solo tackles and two assists. Tyler Lerma and Tyler Pederson each had four solo tackles and two assists. But Basically the whole line has been responsible for the stingy defensive play. The ends of Saporito and Clayton Howard have contained any outside runs while the interior lines of Pederson, Mitch Crowley, Andrew Knight, Anthony Suber,Mikalya Bejarano and Anthony Jackson snuff out the inside game.
The final score Raiders 49, Bayside Broncos 6.
