Dear Editor,

I am frustrated and concerned about the new “No Right Turn on Red” sign posted at the stoplight on the northbound 101 off ramp at Dunne Avenue.

I routinely obey this traffic sign. I do not see why others have such a hard time doing the same.

I have witnessed many things at this stop light that boggle the mind. I have been honked at, rudely gestured at, seen cars use the shoulder or the middle lane to go around someone waiting at the stoplight, not to mention the large numbers of people I have seen who simply ignore the sign and turn right anyway.

Drivers, locals or not, who ignore this sign and put others at risk with their errant behavior should be ashamed, or at least should feel some sort of remorse.

I doubt either of these feelings find their way into this sort of drivers psyche.

When is the Morgan Hill Police Department going to do something about this ever-growing problem?

It has gotten completely out of hand. Either enforce the no turn on red sign or take it down. It is ridiculous that such a simple law is not enforced. Isn’t it an obvious conclusion that if the sign’s message was enforced, such blatant disregard for the law would not be taking place?
