Wet news

I was just wondering why my Morgan Hill Times was delivered soaking wet. It hasn’t rained and it’s awfully, awfully dry out, but the paper looks almost like it was sitting in a mud puddle.

Aside from delivering local news to your doorstep, we also try to deliver a paper you can actually read. But as with some of the best laid plans of mice and men, sometimes things beyond our control come into play. When that does happen, we’re committed to making things right. If you receive a paper that is damaged and unreadable, call circulation manager Walt Glines at 842-2327. Your newspaper should be waiting on your doorstep every Tuesday and Saturday, unless you request we leave it elsewhere. Feel free to call Walt if you’re having other circulation issues that need to be addressed.

Speeders

I can’t help but notice the people that constantly speed down my street, morning, noon and night. I live near downtown and ever since they installed those speed bumps, it seems to have gotten worse, almost as if people are zooming down my street because they don’t want to go slow through downtown. It’s frustrating to see my street become a speed zone because of those speed bumps. People used to speed through here all the time, but it’s gotten worse lately. If the cops would put an officer down here, I bet they’d write tickets all day long.

It seems some people have found a way to satisfy their need for speed through downtown. Unlike earlier this year when an officer sat and waited for speeders, Police Chief Bruce Cummings said he can’t spare anyone. The caller and other residents who see drivers with a “lead foot” should call the MHPD at 779-2101, or call the traffic hotline at 776-0460. Residents can take down a license plate, if they wish. Cummings said he can’t cite the driver, but will send them a letter asking them to slow down.
