El Toro Aquatics swimmers representing the Silicon Valley Aquatic Association helped their club swim away with the team title over host Morgan Hill Swim Club at the Shamrock Splash swim meet last weekend, 516 points to 456.

Relays were key to the victory with SVAA capturing first place 11-12 boys 400 Free and 400 Medley, 9&10 boys 200 Medley, 8&Un Boys 100 Medley and 100 Freestyle, 11-12 Girls 400 Free, 13-14 Girls 400 Free and 400 Medley Relays.

The local meet was perfect preparation for several El Toro swimmers who will travel to Pleasanton to compete in the Far Western Champion-ships, one of the fastest competitions in the USA.

Among the standouts from the local El Toro Aquatics team representing SVAA was quadruple winner Lauren Cutler with victories in the 50 free 26.28, 200 free 2:03.15 followed in hot pursuit by El Toro teammate Alex Wells 2:05.31, 200 IM, 2:24.46 and the 500 free 5:32.02.

Teammate Ciki Coetsee spoiled Cutler’s charge for a fifth title in the 100 free, 56.54 to 56.71.

Cutler finished second in the 100 fly, 1:06.56 behind Salinas’ Amanda Aguayo, 1:05.43.

MHSC Makos organizer John Rick called the event, which drew 29 teams and 520 swimmers “a tremend-ous success.”
