Hosted by the Morgan Hill Police Officers Association and Community Service Projects of the Central Coast, the Morgan Hill Blue Knights will take on the NFL celebrities from the San Francisco 49ers and Oakland Raiders in a basketball fundraiser game at 7 p.m. on Friday.
The 49er-Raider celebrities team includes Guy McIntyre, Rod Martin, Cliff Branch, John Paye and Eason Ramson, among others. The Blue Knights, a team of MH police officers, include Jerry Neumayer, Mark Brazeal, Max Cervantes, Troy Heofling, Shane Palsgrove, Ray Ramos and Rick Rodriguez. Proceeds benefit a variety of local causes, including the YMCA, the Live Oak High boosters, the Friday night music series, Leadership Morgan Hill and stduent scholarships. pride fundraising for trip
On its way to the NSA World Series in Seattle July 18-25, the Morgan Hill Pride 12U Green softball team is seeking help with the costs of the trip, which will cost more than $8,000. Contributions will be greatly appreciated and are tax-deductible. A thank-you letter will be sent as a receipt for contributions, and larger contributors can also qualify for special gifts.

free golf for young women
In support of “Take Your Daughter to the Course Week,” Eagle Ridge Golf Club is offering free golf to young women July 6-11.
Any young lady under 18 may play a complimentary round of golf at Eagle Ridge from July 6-11 when they are accompanied by an adult paying a regular greens fee.
Cart rental is required for both players Friday through Sunday to keep play moving during busy weekend times.
Wedemeyer All-Star Game
Live Oak High grads Steve Conner and Daniel Salinas will join some of the top area high school football players at the 30th Annual Charlie Wedemeyer High School All-Star Football Game on Wednesday, July 21 at 7:30 p.m. at San Jose City College. The annual event is sponsored by the Almaden Valley Rotary Club and will feature 90 of the Silicon Valley’s best high school football players. This year’s game is dedicated to the memory of local hero and former NFL player and U.S. Army Ranger Pat Tillman.
Charlie Wedemeyer is a former college football player and the 1960s “Prep Player of the Decade” in Hawaii. He attended Punahou Academy and Michigan State University on athletic scholarships. In 1977, he was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis and was given three years to live then. He is still alive today and is the founder of the Charlie Wedemeyer Family Outreach. The program’s mission is to fight ALS. He will be at the game to encourage players and show his support for this grand tradition.
Past stars of the Youth Classic include former San Francisco 49ers Jeff Garcia, Brent Jones, and Carl Monroe; former Dallas Cowboy Doug Cosbie; and current 49er Jeff Ulbrich, another Live Oak alum.
Tickets for the 30th Annual Charlie Wedemeyer High School All-Star Football Game are $10 and can be purchased at the San Jose Box Office. basketball camp
Jr. NBA Boys and Girls Basketball Camp takes place July 12 through July 16 at the Gymnasium on 145 Wright Ave. in Morgan Hill. Come and have a great time. The coaching staff is ready for a great camp. Sessions for Pre-K to second grade is 8:30-9:30 a.m.; third grade to sixth grade is 10 a.m.-noon; and seventh to ninth grade is 12:30-2:30 p.m. The cost is $80 for all ages. OVYSL signups
Orchard Valley Youth Soccer League is now taking signups for the 2004/05 fall recreational season.
The cost before July 15 is $95 for the first and second player of the family and $60 for the third or more. Beginning July 16, the cost is $120 on a space-available basis. Boys and girls aged 4-14 (born from 8-1-99 to 7-31-91) are eligible.
