Morgan Hill Police special operations Sgt. David Swing said Condit Road will be closed Sunday for Bubba Blackwell who will jump nine recreational vehicles supplied by Alpine Recreation at the House of Thunder Harley Davidson store at 9:30am but will remain open for local traffic.
The road will be completely shut down at noon for the jump, but will reopen at 1pm to local traffic and fully reopen at 2pm. Parking will be available on the lot next to the Aquatics Center for cars. Motorcycles can park in the House of Thunder parking lot.
MHPD Cmdr. Joe Sampson said the downtown streets, from Main Avenue south to Dunne Avenue and from Depot Street west to Del Monte Street, will close at 1pm Sunday for the street dance and will remain closed through the Fourth of July parade.
No parking signs are already posted, warning drivers their cars will be towed at a cost of $162 to the owners with extra fees for each additional day the car is impounded.
The parade route, which includes portions of Peak, Main and Dunne avenues along with Monterey Road and Depot Street, will be shut down at 7am to accommodate the 10k and 5k run and walk and the children’s mile run.
Local traffic will be allowed through after the closures, but will be closed during the parade from 10am to about noon.
Full traffic will reopen after the cleanup is complete, which Sampson expects between 2 and 3pm.
During the fire works display, Edmondson and Sunnyside avenues will be closed down to accommodate parking and exiting traffic. The streets will reopen after everyone clears out.
Sampson said the community needs to be aware that during the parade, airplanes and the CalStar helicopter will be flying low over the downtown area as a part of the show. Sampson said the MHPD and IDI want spectators or residents to know the planes and helicopter are not part of an emergency situation.
Sampson said the community should also be aware that today, the San Jose Police Department will be conducting a training session on Lindo Lane, northwest of Britton Middle School. There will be loud explosions as a part of the “flash-bang” training, he said, but there is no danger to residents.
