Dear Editor,
The article on funding for the Indoor Recreation Center in the Nov. 20 edition ascribes the following quote to me: “I can’t support the motion until we’ve proved it can come from the general fund and not the general fund reserves.” I really doubt that I made that statement, and if I did, I certainly did not intend it.
I strongly believe that no general fund moneys – regardless of source – should be used for the IRC. We must find other sources. The RDA does not have enough funds to cover every project, and I consider the library to be a higher priority than the IRC, so would not put the library in jeopardy by using RDA funds.
So my intent was to say that any increased funding for the IRC should not come from either the general fund or the RDA.
