I believe this sudden reality check was brought upon me while sitting in a parent meeting discussing our much-anticipated senior trip. Some of my peers left jumpy and excited, a few disappointed, but I walked away completely stunned. I counted the months over in my head, December, January, February, March, April, May … JUNE! No longer was I counting years, it is down to the final months.
When did we all get older? I remember holding my mom’s hand walking into kindergarten as if it was last week, and now I am discussing colleges and SAT scores with my friends. I become a little depressed while thinking about the final school functions that our class will ever participate in together. But that feeling is why our very spirited ASB group has devoted every spare moment to deciding how to make this last year incredible.
We are planning the next dance, our Winter Ball and have come up with some great themes. Of course, it’s up to our student body to make the final decision, so be on the lookout for more information as we approach this event.
We also had our mentoring session for this month with our freshmen class which went over very successfully. We talked about voting rights and how privileged we, as U.S. citizens are to have the right to vote. We also talked about misinterpretations and how we as high school students can stop rumors and better communicate to one another. It was really great to see the students open up about personal experiences and what they would do to prevent these actions.
Before I send you my farewells until next time, I’d like to congratulate all of our fall season athletes. Friday night is our last league football game against Gilroy, which will determine if we rank third or fourth before our boys go to playoffs. So come out and cheer them on.
Our girls varsity volleyball team plays their first CCS game against Monta Vista this Wednesday at home. The girls and boys water polo team won TCAL and will proceed to CCS this Saturday. Another amazing season with the cross-country team will send on Cobbie Jones, Lisa Herrera, Billy Wong, Jonathan Kamei, Jesus Atanacio, Orlando Lucero, Eric Matsumoto, Nick Mott, Josh Levy and Kenny Benner to their CCS meet. Once again congratulations to all of our fall athletes.
Be sure to also come out and support your Live Oak Song and Cheerleaders this Saturday at their car wash at Napa Auto Parts from 10am-3pm. Have another nutty week everyone!
