Community Solutions, the human service agency in South Valley, is making it easy to donate toys, food and gifts so less-fortunate families don’t go without during the holiday season.

But they need help in the form of toys, food and gifts – and volunteers to make it all happen – and all by Monday, Dec. 13. Generous residents can choose a program that suits them and their family:

49er Toy Drive Dec. 6:

Former 49er Randy Kirk will host his annual toy and gift drive for local families on Monday, Dec. 6 at the Box Seat Sports Grille, 15650 Vineyard Ave. (behind the new Safeway) from 5:30-9 p.m. Sports fans are encouraged to bring unwrapped toys and meet Kirk, Super Bowl Champion Rhett Hall, a Morgan Hill native, former 49er Chris Dalman and former NFL Oakland Raider and 49er and NFL 1997 Defense Player of the Year, Dana Stubblefield. The former players will sign autographs and talk with fans. San Francisco 49er and other NFL memorabilia will be raffled throughout the evening. A raffle ticket will be given for each unwrapped toy or gift that is brought and additional raffle tickets will be for sale at the event.

Gifts for teenagers are strongly encouraged because they tend to be in short supply each year. Items collected at the toy drive will be used in the Love Basket program and the Giving Tree at St. Catherine Church.

Adopt-a-Family Program:

Adopt a family this season, choose the family size and commit to providing a gift for each family member and food for a holiday meal. Call 776-6280.

Love Basket Program:

Donations of non-perishable food items, diapers, baby formula, blankets, gift and grocery cards and toys are needed for the creation of bountiful gift baskets for families. Giving Trees with names, ages and gift suggestions for individuals in need are located at South Valley National Bank in Tennant Station on Tennant Avenue and at City Hall, 17555 Peak Ave. Choose a tag or tags and go shopping. Open 8am-5pm. Call 776-6282.

Volunteer

Volunteers are needed from Dec. 6–17 for four-hour shifts to wrap gifts, sort food and assemble holiday boxes for families. Call 776-6282.

The mission of Community Solutions is to create opportunities for positive change by promoting and supporting the full potential of individuals, the strengths of families and the well being of our community.
