With weather experts predicting a strong El Nino winter approaching, the city of Morgan Hill reminds residents that now is the time to ensure they and their property are prepared for strong rain storms ahead.

City street maintenance crews have been at work cleaning debris from grates and drains, but city staff need some help removing all the leaves from drains and roadways throughout Morgan Hill, notes a press release from the city of Morgan Hill. Residents and property owners who are aware of any debris in the grates or drains in their neighborhood can help out by clearing the debris away themselves. Doing so can go a long way in preventing flooding during heavy rains.

Sandbags and sand are available at two sandbag stations in Morgan Hill. These are located next to the city Corp Yard at 100 Edes Court, and at next to the El Toro Fire Station on Old Monterey Road. Both locations are open 24/7. Shovels are available.

The National Weather Service is predicting that the season’s most significant rain in this region will take place February through April 2016, according to the city’s press release.
