Dear Editor,

Gamma Alpha is a local, non-profit chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, an honorary women educator’s society.

Recently, we chapter members were overwhelmed by the generosity of our community. On Dec. 11, we held our 18th annual Bake Sale in front of Nob Hill and Safeway Tennant Station. The store’s managers were so kind to allow us to claim some pavement and sell our homemade baked items. People entering the stores good naturedly listened to our persuasive “check out our table.” The morning was a wonderful success.

The proceeds from this event help our chapter offer scholarships to future teachers who are beginning their credential year in college. So far we have helped fund educators for seventeen teachers. Most of them are now in our local schools.

On behalf of the members of Gamma Alpha, thank you for your support. This community is the true gem of Santa Clara County.
