Two local groups, the Morgan Hill Federation of Teachers (MHFT) and Showing Up For Racial Justice South County (SURJ) are co-organizing a March 24 Morgan Hill March for Our Lives in support of gun control.
The event is part of a nationwide movement dreamed up by the survivors of the Feb. 14 Parkland, Fla., high school shooting that resulted in 17 deaths at Stoneman Douglas High School, according to local organizers.
“On March 24, the Morgan Hill community will join our students to march to demand that our lives and safety become a priority, and that we end gun violence and mass shootings in our schools and communities,” according to the announcement.
Marchers will gather at the Morgan Hill Community and Cultural Center (17000 Monterey Road) and will march to the farmer’s market and then return to the CCC for a rally with a host of speakers.
