The city council and school district will sit side by side in a special joint meeting tonight at Live Oak High School.
Both the school board and council members will outline their goals for the year and explore ideas on how to partner to accomplish them.
Some goals can benefit both entities. One example would be for the school district to discuss subsidizing teacher housing in downtown as part of the city’s concept for downtown apartments, school board president Bart Fisher said.
Since downtown extends near Britton Middle School, it could be a way to pull resources and achieve both sets of goals.
“We will look at new opportunities,” Fisher said.
The meeting will begin promptly at 7 p.m. in the Live Oak library with a time to meet and greet at 6:30 p.m. in the Live Oak theater lobby.
