More than 50 mountain bike racers turned out for Saturday’s
event at Harvey Bear Ranch County Park
GILROY — Alex Thomas and Ted Thomas swept the beginner category in the 50 and 20-29 age groups, respectively, and Scott Boulbol captured the sport category title in the 40-49 division to round out Morgan Hill’s top finishers Saturday in the Dirty Gears MTB XC Series 3 at Harvey Bear Ranch County Park.
More than 50 mountain bike racers turned out for the event, presented by South Valley Endurance. The majority of them competed in the beginner category, which Matt Destro won in 49 minutes, 15 seconds.
Ted Thomas placed first in his group in 50:29, and Alex Thomas covered the course in 1:01:15 to win his division.
Boulbol crossed in 1:16:38, almost a minute behind the sport category’s overall winner, Sean White (1:15:14).
William Kemper won the expert category title in 1:36:09.
Event 4 of the Dirty Gears Series is scheduled for July 17 at Fort Ord Public Lands.
