Repeating after honorary guest Larry Carr—current city councilmember and one-time school board trustee—Morgan Hill Unified School District’s newest governing body representatives, Mary Patterson, Teresa Murillo and Tom Arnett, took their oaths of office Dec. 13.
For Patterson and Murillo, it was a first as the two won their respective seats in the November election, which also saw the inaugural trustee area format come into play.
Arnett, who followed up his at-large victory in June with a trustee area win in November, was sworn in for the second time. Arnett’s wife, Mary, had done the honors the first time around for him. This time all three were sworn in simultaneously.
The trio of trustees will serve four-year terms, after joining current members Ron Woolf, Gino Borgioli, Donna Ruebusch and David Gerard on the dais for the Dec. 13 school board meeting.
After tackling their first closed session, in which no action was reported out, the new seven-member board’s first order of public business was electing a president and vice president for the next year. In a pair of 4-3 votes, Ruebusch was picked as president and Arnett was selected as vice president.
