Steven John Britton, 53, died Sunday, March 10, 2013, in his home following a long illness.

He leaves his wife of 22 years, Jill (Wilson) Britton; his children, Eric Britton, Nicole Britton, William Britton, Mackenzie Britton, Colton Britton, and Stevie Britton; his grandchildren, Alyssa, Tyler, Wyatt, Brooklyn, Penelope, and Sloan; his siblings, Sandy Britton, Greg Britton and Mike Britton; and many close friends.

Born and raised in San Jose, the son of Ralph and Eileen (Del Conte) Britton, he was a long-term resident of Gilroy.

In his early years, Steve was a skilled carpenter working for the local union. Before graduating from Branham School in 1977, he began taking on the trade, trained by his father not a degree, but equivalent made him an Ace. After serving the local union for 30 years, Steve had the opportunity to open his own business as a general contractor.

In 2008, he started Steve Britton Construction. He not only took pride in his business, but lived by the code of ethics he promised in his work. “Integrity. Reliability. Honesty.”

A man of many interests, he loved football and supporting his team, the 49ers. He would jump at any opportunity to ride a motorcycle or drive a fast car. He also enjoyed camping, boating, and the annual family Christmas tree hunt.

Steve was a family man and very involved father. He spent many years as Pop Warner football coach, science project inventor, and booboo kisser. He was a strong man that was always able to lift his family’s spirits and guide them through the hardest of times.

In his final days Steve wrote “Dear Lord God, Thank you for love and the love of my family.”
