California native and current Durango resident Janet P. Flint died Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009, in Durango, Colo. She was 73.

Mrs. Flint was born to Perle P. Schleuse and Elsie M. Schleuse in Stockton, CA on November 20, 1935. She graduated from San Benito High School in Hollister, CA in 1953. She attended the University of California Berkeley before marrying William Bradford Flint of Hollister, CA on July 6, 1957 in the backyard of her parents’ home.

Mrs. Flint was a homemaker and raised four children. She enjoyed most time with her family, traveling, the giving of gifts to those she loved, and a good debate. Her strong will, compassionate and giving spirit, along with her sharp wit and intellect, made her a joy to interact with. She had a way of making people feel appreciated and important even when she disagreed with them. She loved the snow, daisies and butterflies, chocolate and time with friends. Other hobbies included bowling, bridge, watching old movies, and watching sporting events.

She is survived by her ex-husband, William Bradford Flint of Bayfield, CO.; sister Myrna Werder of Windsor, CA; daughter Susan E. Klucker of Santa Maria, CA; son James B. Flint of Bayfield, Co; daughter Carol D. Kucer of San Luis Obispo, CA.; son Kenneth W. Flint of Durango, CO; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

No services are planned at this time. A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
